ABOUT NICKY SHANE, THE ARTIST
The many art forms
The Guinness World Record holder as “The Fastest Harmonica Player”
Nicky was able to establish the first wind-instrument speed record in 2005
and still holds the record today. As a visual artist, Nicky has added to his
harmonica verisimilitude by painting the first “Surreal Harmonica Calendar
2012” which is coveted by the harmonica community and many collectors
around the world including “Shaker Microphones” who Nicky represents.
His recent skateboard series called “Community Skateboards and Industrial
Skateboards” is the new paradigm of the skateboard industry initiating a
whole new way of looking at the art of skateboarding. As TransWorld-
Skateboard Magazine art director Keegan Callahan says “I really like
these different series, they talk to me.”
As a touring stand-up comedian for fourteen years Nicky is now working
Las Vegas at Wolfs Comedy Den and will be shooting a multi-camera
comedy special “Nicky ‘The Buzzard’ Shane, Live” in September 2013 for
release, January 2014.
Leading the Nicky Shane Band, Nicky has produced ten albums of
original music and many demo’s over a fifteen year period. Watch on You Tube “Nicky Shane/Star Spangled Banner” for a sample of his
harmonica style or NickyShaneBand/ReverbNation

2010 Guinness World Records (Book) "Fastest Harmonica Player"
December 8, 2008
After five years I finally made it into the "Ten Year Anniversary Book" cool! If you come across one of these older editions I have my first GWR book credit on page 197.
Now, going into my seventh year of holding the record I¹m seriously surprised I still have it. This was the first wind instrument speed record so it took a lot of research plus 400 takes and three trips to the studio.
After four years of experimenting and E-mailing back and forth with Guinness the fateful day came unexpectedly when they informed me I had established the record.
It¹s all about determination and people saying "Your wasting your time" that motivated me. Several years before I was on the road playing the harmonica for hours while driving thousands of miles from one gig to the next, week in week out, year after year thinking 'someday, this is going to pay off.'

Stateside Magazine Features Nicky Shane
May, 2011
I noticed the magazine when it first hit the streets in Santa Barbara in 2010. I liked the alternative exposure of the underground art scene and the attitude that went along with it. Each magazine read "Do not throw away, please pass it on" and that ROCKED!
Then one day I accidentally met Adam Gray, the publisher at a local gallery. I could see he really cared about the artists. I just happened to be shopping my art when he offered me two pages in the magazine. I was stoked!
I like how the mag is constantly evolving. The "Useless Facts" is very cool as the ads and the art have made STATESIDE one of my favorite magazines. I commend Adam for all his hard work circulating the alternatives that help expand the possibilities in our minds.
I want to send out a special thank you to "Pacific Coast Collective" for sponsoring me.
